The Catoosa County Board of Elections and Registration held a special meeting yesterday to determine whether or not to allow four candidates to be on the ballot for the upcoming elections in May. The board of elections decided that Jeff Long, Vanita Hullander, Larry Black, and Steven Henry will be allowed on the ballot for the Republican primary on May 21. Members of the Catoosa County Republican Party, who challenged the candidates’ nomination, had the opportunity to speak before being questioned by the attorneys who are representing the four candidates.
22-year-old Gayland Wayne Brown was arrested Monday and booked into the Walker County Detention Center. Brown faces charges of DUI, possession with the intent to distribute or manufacture among other charges.
A 47-year-old Catoosa County man died in a dirt bike accident at the Prentice Cooper Wildlife Management Area and State Park in Tennessee yesterday afternoon. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) Officers responded to a call regarding a crashed dirt bike around 3 p.m. EST. The victim was wearing a helmet. He was transported to the Nashville Medical Examiner’s Office and the incident remains under investigation.
The Georgia Department of Wildlife and Natural Resources have issued a reminder. They say that it’s best to leave young birds, bunnies or fawns near where they are found. Wildlife experts say that before you pick up or attempt to assist any wildlife that you keep them near where they are found. They say this is regardless of the animals’ age or condition.
