Early voting is underway in the state of Georgia. You can vote now through March 8th at the Walker County Courthouse. The polls are open Monday- Friday from 8am to 5pm and on Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Four satellite locations will open starting March 2nd. Those locations are in Rock Spring, Rossville, Chickamauga and on Lookout Mountain. Super Tuesday is March 12th with polls open from 7am to 7pm.
Gas prices are going up but we’re still paying less locally. State wide a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.16 per gallon. According to Triple-A, gas prices in Dade, Walker and Catoosa Counties average just $3.05 per gallon. That’s the cheapest in the state. Even with the recent increase gas is still about 6-cents cheaper per gallon than it was this time last year.
The Walker County Detention Center had 2 felony bookings on Sunday. 37-year-old Bradley Eugene Bynum was arrested and booked on an obstruction charge and a parole violation. 21-year-old Jaylon Lamon Billups was charged with possession of stolen property, willful obstruction of law enforcement and possession of a schedule one.
The state basketball tournament gets underway tonight and tomorrow. in boys action, Heritage visits Westminister. Ridgeland will host Lumpkin County Wednesday night. It’s the first ever home state tournament basketball game in Ridgeland history. LFO’s boys will travel to Gilmer. In girls action Dade County is at St. Francis tonight. LFO travels to Wesleyan. Ringgold host White County tonight.
