The boil water advisory is back in the city of LaFayette. The advisory is in effect until further notice. The areas impacted include east of the Highway 27 bypass, south of 136 east, including the Naomi community, Highway 151, Corinth area, Hillcrest community, Walnut Grove area and old Trion Highway. Make sure you boil water for over a minute past a rolling boil before you use it for cooking, drinking or brushing your teeth. The reason for the advisory stems from more issues at the Lee School Road Water Plant. The City is taking steps to address the issue. At last night’s city council meeting approval was given for the rental of a Dissolved Air Flotation System for three months. The system will address the issue at the water plant. City workers have started work at the plant to get it ready for the system’s arrival and installation.
Walker County Schools are on a two-hour delay today. The delay allows school officials to address any refreezing that happens in the parking lot and the sidewalks. Chickamauga City Schools are also on a two-hour delay.

Walmart says customers should throw out a chicken broth product that was sold at stores in mostly Southern states late last year, including Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. The retailer has recalled 48-ounce cartons of Great Value Family Size Chicken Broth that had been sold at 242 stores in nine states. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration reported the recall in December affecting just over 2,000 cases of broth with a shelf life lasting until March 2026. The FDA said the containers had packaging problems that could lead to the broth spoiling. There have been no reports of illnesses.
