On January 15th Samantha Shea Leamon of Rossville was found guilty of possession of fentanyl with the intent to distribute. Leamon was found guilty in the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Court. Back in April of last year, Leamon was found in possession of more than 3,400 grams of fentanyl powder. Leamon was sentenced by Chief Judge Brian M House to 10 years in jail, followed by 20 years of probation.

A seven-day, three state, 80-mile canoe/kayak journey is set for June 15-22. The route will take participants through Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama along South Chickamauga Creek and the Tennessee River. The trip will begin in Ringgold, Georgia on northwest Georgia’s south Chickamauga Creek, descend to the Tennessee River near Chattanooga and then follow the course of the Tennessee River onto Stevenson, Alabama.
Between 250 and 400 are expected to participate. The group will camp for two nights at the Stevenson City Park. The trip is organized by Joe Cook, Paddle Georgia Coordinator and Guidebook Author. Cook said parts of the trip will include bus transportation from the landing points to the campgrounds. Stops along the route will be long enough for applicants to enjoy some sight seeing some points of interest.

LaFayette’s girls basketball team lost to Gilmer yesterday. The Lady Ramblers are now 14-7 overall and 3-5 in region play. The loss to Gilmer snapped a four-game winning streak. The LaFayette boys won 70-59. Isiah McKenzie led the Ramblers with 16 points. LaFayette heads to Heritage on Friday night.
