The Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service has announced a conservation stewardship program. Agricultural producers and forest landowners should apply by March 7th to be considered for the funding. The stewardship is for working lands including organic and traditional agricultural cropland and pastureland. It is also open to nonindustrial private forest land. The local Department of Agriculture located on North Duke Street in LaFayette can answer any questions. The deadline to sign up is March 7th.

The Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in locating a missing person. 25-year-old Stone Tyler Champion was last seen January 21st at about 6:30pm in the area of Meadowview Lane in Ringgold. Champion may be driving a purple 2013 Chevy Camaro with TN plates. If you have any information on Champions whereabouts contact the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office.

The Chattooga County Coroners office has released the name of the person who was killed in a house fire on Sunday. 44-year-old Misty Thompson of Summerville was found by firefighters inside the home on Turner Street in Summerville. The home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived but they were able to get it under control quickly. Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene.
