The US drought monitor says drought conditions in Walker County have gotten worse. The northern most part of the county is in a severe drought. The rest of the county, including LaFayette, is categorized as a moderate drought. Hopefully the rain this week will help the drought conditions. We move into February coming off the 37th driest year to date in the last 130 years. Drought conditions across the country are monitored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Only one felony arrest on Wednesday in Walker County. Dhantori Jaquan Council, a 24-year-old male was charged with battery, simple assault, robbery and theft.

The latest restaurant inspections for Walker County. In LaFayette, the Sonic got a 76. The Krystal an 82. The Best a 74. In Rock Spring, The Village Goat scored a 96. In Chickamauga, a couple of high scores for coffee shops. The Grind Coffee Shop got a 100 while Kingdom Coffee received a 96.

If you’re watching the Super Bowl on Sunday, you may see a familiar face. No, not Taylor Swift. LaFayette’s Cory Lee will be featured in a Google Workspace commercial. Lee launched a travel blog back in 2013. He documents his travel adventures in his wheelchair. The blog is called Curb Free with Cory Lee. Lee has visited 50 countries and all seven continents. Lee told WTVC in Chattanooga that he wanted to showcase in the commercial that wheelchair users can travel.

It’s senior night for LaFayette basketball. The Ramblers face Adairsville inside Dan Priest Area. The JV girls get things started at 4:30. Varsity Girls play at 6. Varsity boys tip off at 7:30. Senior night activities will take place between the varsity girls and varsity boys game.
