The bitter cold temperatures are back this week. We’ll see wind gusts today up to 20 miles per hour. The forecast is calling for some winter weather around the area on Wednesday. The Walker County Historic Preservation Commission will meet tomorrow. The meeting is set for 6pm at the library. Among the items on the agenda, a proposal for a Walker County Civil War Reenactment.

A proposed bill regarding who can be sued in the ongoing battle over forever chemicals in Northwest Georgia is garnering some backlash. Georgia House Bill 211 is sponsored by several representatives from Northwest Georgia. The bill would make carpet companies immune from suits blaming them for the spreading of PFAS chemicals which have numerous health concerns. Chemical manufacturers like 3M and DuPont have been sued recently. The suits have accused them of not informing companies such as Shaw and Mowhawk of the danger of forever chemicals.

The LaFayette Rambler Boys and Girls basketball teams are in the state tournament. The Lady Ramblers head to Albany on Tuesday. The Ladies will face Dougherty High School. The boys team will head to Augusta on Wednesday. The Ramblers face Cross Creek.
