The Walker County Sheriff’s Office is one of four in the area who are working with US Immigration and ICE to crack down on illegal immigrants who have been arrested. The program applies only to those who face criminal charges. The program allows deputies to identify and potentially transfer inmates who are here illegally and have been arrested on criminal charges. Whitfield County and Murray County in Georgia, Hamilton County in Tennessee are also a part of the program.

Early voting has started for the March 18th Special Election in Walker County. The polls are open today until 5pm. Polls will be open tomorrow from 9am-5pm. You can cast your vote at the courthouse in LaFayette. Saturday voting happens tomorrow and again next Saturday. The Ward 1 City Council seat is up for grabs in LaFayette. Countywide voters will decide on renewing the ESPLOST for Walker County Schools.

Four felony arrests in Walker County on Wednesday. Among those arrested, 47-year-old Ronald Dale Lawson was booked on charges of trafficking meth.

Fort Oglethorpe Police are asking for help in identifying two suspects. A woman attempted to pass a counterfeit bill at a local business.
