More winter weather this morning. Be safe as you drive, in particular if your headed up the mountain. Drive carefully this morning and watch out for black ice.

Tuesday nights storms left several Walker County residents without power on Wednesday. As we understand it this morning. Georgia Power has restored power to all of their customers. That’s about 2,385 customers in the county. North Georgia EMC continues to work to restore power to less than 500 customers that are still in the dark.

Nine felony arrests in Walker County on Tuesday. Among those arrested, 27-year-old Thomas Joseph Penson was booked on charges of 1st degree forgery. 40-year-old Terry Ryan Burr was booked on two counts of entering an automobile and a burglary charge. 31-year-old Gerald Austin Cook was arrested on charges of simply battery and felony possession of marijuana. 22-year-old Steven Anthony Suett was charged with possession of meth. 54-year-old Brian Clinton Pemdoltan was arrested on a possession of meth with the intent to distribute charge.

Pre-K applications are being accepted in Walker County. The window to submit your application is open until March 31st. The lottery takes place on April 16th. Parents will be notified the same day by email. You can only apply once. The eligible birthdates to enroll is September 2, 2020 through September 1, 2021.
