Crews have been able to restore power across Walker County. As of last night, North Georgia EMC still had three customers in Walker County without power. Wednesday’s storms left more than 500 without power across the county.

The Walker County Animal Shelter will provide free vaccinations to family pets. The no-costs vaccines are made possible through Petco Love’s national initiative. The Walker County Animal shelter aims to vaccinate 600 pets through this effort. If you take your pet to the shelter to receive a free vaccine, you can also have a dog or cat microchipped for $10.

You can vote tomorrow from 9am to 5pm at the Courthouse in LaFayette. Polls will also be open at the satellite locations next week. Rock Spring, Rossville, Chickamauga and Fairyland are open next week, Monday-Saturday. Election day is May 18th.

A Ringgold man was sentenced to 5 years in prison followed by three years of supervised release after setting fire to the Chattanooga Masonic Center. Court documents say in the middle of the night on Sept. 4, 2023, Kadum Harwood brought firewood, fire accelerant, a chainsaw, and sledgehammer to the Chattanooga Masonic Center on West 21st Street with intentions of destroying the building. Hardwood had been charged with arson, vandalism, burglary, and reckless endangerment. Hardwood was also ordered to pay $159,686 in restitution to the Chattanooga Masonic Center.
