Tomorrow is election day in Walker County. Polls will be open from 7am to 7pm. The ballot includes the Ward 1 City Council seat in LaFayette. The ESPLOST, a 1% tax earmarked for education is up for renewal and is also on the ballot.
The first Litter Task Force meeting is set for today. It starts at 5:30pm at the Board of Commissioners office on South Duke Street. If you are interested in volunteering call the Walker County Government offices or stop by the meeting today.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is seeking information on the death of 17-year-old Mary Angela Woodey Smith. The skeletal remains of Smith were found in Rossville on October 13, 1982. She was last seen in Chattanooga on July 11, 1982. Her death was ruled a homicide. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the GBI Tip Line. 1-800-597-TIPS.
