The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Chattooga River in Summerville. The Warning is in effect all through today. The National Weather Service says most flood deaths occur in vehicles. They encourage you to use caution as you travel through Northwest Georgia. The Chattooga River is expected to rise above flood stage today before dropping back below flood stage by the end of the afternoon. The rain is expected to continue throughout today. Keep it here on Georgia 93-7 for the latest forecast. Flooding is a concern for today. Flood watch is in effect for much of the Atlanta area.

The Catoosa County Fire Department has been sent on emergency deployment to Kentucky. The group is assisting with the recovery efforts from last week’s storms and flooding in the bluegrass state.

Barbara Rivera Holmes was sworn in as Georgia’s 11st labor commissioners. Holmes has become the first Latina to hold a commissioned office. Holmes was previously the President and CEO of the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce.

School is back in session today. LaFayette baseball is back on the diamond. The Ramblers host Gordon Lee today in a JV game. The two teams go at it today from Chris Jones Field. The varsity team will return to action at Adairsville tomorrow. First pitch is set for 5:30pm.
