Two felony arrests in Walker County on Sunday. 72-year-old Richard Thomas Angwin was charged with reckless conduct and aggravated assault. 57-year-old Gary Wayne Foster was charged with being a habitual violator, DUI, open container along with driving on a suspended license.
At last night’s LaFayette City Council meeting, the newest councilman was sworn in. Tom Langford was sworn in to fill the Ward 1 seat.
Gas prices have taken a little dip since last week. Locally AAA says the price of a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.86 per gallon. Statewide, the price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.98. A week ago, it was over $3 a gallon.
Over the last 30 days the Dade County Sheriff’s Office has taken in approximately 374 grams of illegal drugs. Deputies have also confiscated multiple firearms and a lot of drug related objects. The Dade County Sheriff’s Office says the number amount to almost a half a pound of fentanyl and just under a half pound of meth.
The latest restaurant health inspections for Walker County. The Subway in Rock Spring scored a 100. The McDonald’s in LaFayette got a 99.
The City of Summerville is hiring. They are currently accepting application for a part-time Main Street Assistant. The Main Street Assistant will support the director to implement programs and initiatives to enhance the downtown area. You can apply through the City of Summerville website.
LaFayette High School baseball won big last night. It was senior night and the Ramblers pounded out 10 hits on their way to a 15-1 win over North Murray. The Ramblers are back in action on Friday. The Ramblers will be on the road. They will play at Trion. First pitch is set for 5;30.
