The water boil advisory in LaFayette has been lifted. The city made the announcement around 5pm yesterday. The city says all water quality tests have confirmed compliance with safety standards. The Lee School Road Water Treatment Plant was impacted with high turbidity levels. City officials are working on a filtration solution for the plant along with long term infrastructure improvements at the plant.
The Bank of LaFayette is warning customers about a phone scam. The Bank of LaFayette says that someone is calling customers claiming to be from the bank and wanting to replace your debit card. The Bank of LaFayette says they will never ask for your complete card number. If you receive this call, hang up and call the bank immediately. The Bank of LaFayette also reminds you to never give out your personal information over the phone.

According to Triple-A gas prices in Walker, Dade and Catoosa Counties remain the cheapest in the state. The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $2.75. Statewide the average price for a gallon is $2.90. Officials with Triple-A say gas prices have been inching up since the new year. The increase stems from the price of crude oil which has moved to around $75 a barrel.
According to Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader, deputies responded yesterday to an early morning call at UCBI in Trion. The automated teller machine alarm was going off. Deputies arrived to find a stolen truck which was used in an unsuccessful attempt to hook and steal the ATM. The ATM was severely compromised according to the sheriff’s office. Authorities continue to investigate the matter.
