The Walker County Detention Center reported five felony arrests on Wednesday. 37-year-old Miranda Maria Blair was charged with possession of marijuana of less than an ounce, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. 53-year-old James Shannon Johnson was booked on possession of meth. 32-year-old Courtney Linne Hicks is charged with entering an automobile with intent to commit theft. 26-year-old Peyton McCrane Smith faces several charges including possession of schedule 2, driving without a liscense, DUI and other charges.

Blood Assurance says that they are running dangerously low on O-negative blood supplies. Blood Assurance is urging those with O-negative blood to schedule an appointment to give as soon as possible. O-negative blood donors are universal meaning their blood can be given to anyone.

The state House unanimously passed the Georgia Squatter Reform Act on yesterday. The proposal is designed to make it clear that squatting is a crime and should not be dealt with through the traditional eviction process. The measure would allow police to charge squatters with criminal trespassing. The bill now goes to the senate. It appears to have support from both parties.
