The Walker County Board of Commissioners will meet tonight. The annual audit of government and business activities will be presented to the board. The audit covers the time from October 1, 2022, to September 30, 2023. The 112-page document is also available for the public to view at WalkerCountyGA.gov. Today’s meeting is at 6:30 pm at the Courthouse Annex III on South Main Street in LaFayette.
Walker County Fire Rescue will be hosting a Heart Saver CPR/AED class on April 9th. The class starts at 6 pm at Station 1 on Highway 27 in Rock Spring. The class costs $40. When you complete the class, you’ll get a two-year certification card from the American Heart Association. You can contact the Walker County Fire Rescue to reserve your spot.
The Georgia Labor Commission has released regional unemployment rates for January. The unemployment rate for Northwest Georgia was up two-tenths of a percent to 3.2% for the first month of the year.
Local gas prices have remained about the same. Catoosa, Dade, and Walker Counties continue to have the cheapest gas in the state. Locally the average price of unleaded gas is $3.07. It’s $3.11 in Dalton. Statewide, that same gallon of gas will cost about $3.20.
