The Walker County Detention Center reported three felony bookings on Saturday. 23-year-old Nicholas Wade England was book on charges of possession of meth, theft and driving without a valid license.
Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson has announced that he has Stage IV pancreatic cancer. Thompson made the announcement in a press release on Friday. Thompson said that the cancer has spread to his liver. Thompson says he will continue to fulfill his duties as Labor Commissioner during this time.
The city of LaFayette will name the building at the Lowell Green Recreation Center after Jennifer Lee Salmon on Saturday. Salmon was born in LaFayette in 1935. She taught physical education at several Walker County Schools. She was the first director of the Lowell Greene Recreation Department. Salmon died in June of last year. She was 87. The naming of the building will take place Saturday at noon at Lowell Greene Recreation Center on Webb Wheeler Road.
The Catoosa County GOP will be the subject of a town hall meeting next week. The meeting is planned for next Monday, one week from today. It will be held at Constitution Hall in Fort Oglethorpe. The Catoosa County GOP attempted to keep four candidates off the ballot for the May primary.
