State Representative Mike Cameron last week voted in favor of a proposal to fight illegal immigration in Georgia. House Bill 1105 would require local law enforcement to work with federal immigration authorities. Local law enforcement would be required to keep information on the immigration status of any individual for public safety purposes. Any law enforcement agency found in violation would be subject to have state funds or state-administered federal funds withheld.

There are questions in Catoosa County about who will be on the ballot in May’s Republican primary. Some commissioners say the county’s Republican party has refused to put them on the ballot. County Commissioners Jeff Long and Vanita Hullander say they were told by Catoosa County GOP Char Joanna Hildreth that they do not qualify for the party. Long and Hullander have lawyered up.

The new Goodwill in LaFayette will open later this week. Thursday morning the new Goodwill opens on Mize Street. A ribbon cutting is set for 8:30. Shopping begins at 9.

LaFayette High School golf tees off their season today. The Ramblers face Calhoun at the LaFayette Golf Club. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams will be in action today.
