Friday is the deadline to qualify for political office in Walker County.  The primary is set for May 21st.  Incumbent Billy Sims is running to remain coroner in Walker County.  Sims will face competition.  Former Walker County Coroner Dewayne Wilson has also qualified.

More drama with the Catoosa County Republican party.  Four potential candidates said they are still being denied a spot on the ballot by the Catoosa County GOP.  The four candidates are Vanita Hullander, Jeff Long, Steven Henry and Larry Black.  Three of the four candidates are already on Catoosa County’s Board of Commission.  On Tuesday, Superior Court Judge Don Thompson ruled the four candidates qualify to be on the county’s ballot. After the judge’s court order, three potential candidates walked into the GOP headquarters. They said they were denied a spot on the ballot again.

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office has issued a missing person bulletin.  Charles David Wheeler has been missing since February 27th.  Wheeler was last seen on Highway 151 at the Pit Stop Store.  Wheeler is a 59-year-old white male.  6-feet-5 and weighs 140 pounds, has brown hair and green eyes.  If you know the whereabouts of Charles David Wheeler please contact the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.

Sewer work being done today will force the reroute of some traffic in Rossville.  McFarland Avenue will see a section closed.  Detour signs will be posted.  Jenkins Road near McFarland will be down to one lane for sewer main installation.  Be advised if your traveling in that part of the county today.
