The Walker County Historic Preservation Commission unveiled a new wayside sign for McLemore Cove yesterday. The sign is in front of the Mountain Cove Farms Store. McLemore Cove has antebellum structures, many farmlands, and archaeological sites dating back to the 1800’s. The area contains more than 50-thousand acres, forming the state’s largest historic district.
A Monday afternoon crash in Chattooga County left one man dead. According to the Georgia State Patrol, Cameron Bryars of Fort Payne traveled north on Georgia 1. Bryars crossed the center line and was struck head-on by a Dodge 3500. The Dodge then veered into another lane, colliding with a Honda Accord. Bryars sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

High School Football spring practice is getting started this week. LaFayette and Ridgeland both started on Monday. For LaFayette, it’s the first spring practice for new head coach Ethan Thompson. Gordon Lee will start their spring practice on May 6th.
