Calbe Perry is new Boys Basketball coach at LaFayette High School. Perry has been an assistant under former Head Coach Hank Peppers since 2020. Perry is a 2015 graduate of Ringgold HIgh School and a 2020 graduate of Dalton State College. Coach Perry is also very much involved in youth basketball in the community coaching local AAU teams.
Only one felony arrest Sunday in Walker County. 31-year-old Devonte Marquise Green was arrested on charges of 1st degree burglary, attempted kidnapping, simple battery, simple assault, 3 counts of 3rd degree cruelty to children and obstruction of law enforcement.
The Boys and Girls Class 3-A State Golf Championships are being played at the LaFayette Golf Club. The final round of play gets underway today. Team standings in girls action. Savannah Christian is in the lead at 17 over. While Gordon Lee has tied White County for second at 30 over. Ava Cottis of Savannah Christian is in first place with a six-stroke lead. In boys play, Wesleyan is in first in the team standings with a 12 shot lead headed into today. Evan Rogers of Hebron has a one stroke lead over Alex Holcomb of Wesleyan.
