Today is National Fentanyl Awareness Day. Walker County will hold an event today from 5pm to 7pm. The event will be at Joe Stock Park in LaFayette. The event will include the training and distribution of Narcan. Narcan is the lifesaving drug that can reverse the effects of an overdose.
The Walker County Sheriff’s Office has issued a missing person alert. 33-year-old Daniel Padavana was last seen in the early morning hours of Saturday May 4th at his home in Rossville. Padavana suffers from mental health issues and is considered an endangered adult. Authorities say his last possible location was in East Ridge. If you have seen Daniel or know of his whereabouts contact the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.
The Walker County Board of Commissioners will meet Thursday evening at 6:30pm. On the agenda for the meeting is a resolution to enact a moratorium on solar farms. The meeting will take place at the Courthouse Annex III. It will be streamed live on the county’s Facebook page.
Gas prices have been on the rise locally. According to Triple-A, the best gas prices in Georgia are no longer in Walker, Dade and Catoosa County’s. Gas in Rome is $3.34 per gallon. It’s $3.36 in Dalton. State wide you’ll pay an average of $3.65 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline.
