We’ve got a wind advisory in effect in Northwest Georgia. The advisory is in effect until 10am this morning. You can expect winds from 10-20 miles per hour today with gusts up to 35 miles per hour or more. Use extra caution as you travel around the area this morning.
An update from the city of LaFayette on the Water Boil Advisory. City officials say the turbidity levels in the source water at Lee School Road Water Treatment Plant have dropped. The turbidity levels have stabilized. The city plans to reach out to the Environmental Protection Division to request confirmation to lift the Water Boil Advisory. Until approval is given by the EPD, the advisory remains in effect. Customers should continue to boil water for at least one minute past a rolling boil before using it for cooking, drinking or brushing teeth.
Walker County Schools are back in session on Wednesday January 8th.
The Walker County Board of Commissioners will meet on Thursday of this week. It’s the first meeting for newly elected Board Chair Angie Teems. Thursday’s meeting starts at 6:30pm at Courthouse Annex III on South Main Street. You can watch the meeting live on the county’s Facebook page.
Two felony arrests Saturday in Walker County. 52-year-old Tony Thomas was charged with theft by bringing stolen property into the state. 49-year-old Daniel Lee Young was booked on first degree burglary charges and theft by taking.
Basketball action from over the weekend. In boys’ action the Ramblers fell to GIlmer 66-57. The boys are now 9-5 on the year. They face Heritage at home tomorrow night. The girls are now 10-4 on the season. They lost to Gilmer Saturday 58-42. The girls will face Heritage tomorrow night. Tip-off is set for 6pm. The boys’ game will follow the girls.
