     The Walker County Board of Commissioners will hold a special called work session this morning to continue discussions on the proposed 2027 fiscal year budget.  The meeting is scheduled for 8:30 at the Walker County Administration Building, or Courthouse Annex One, at 101 South Duke Street in LaFayette.  The work session is open to the public.
     A roadway safety improvement project gets underway today on three Walker County roads.  Crews will make shoulder improvements and install raised pavement markers, new striping and additional traffic signs along Johnson Road, Five Points Road and Wilson Road.  The project is expected to take about a month to complete.  The improvements are being funded through a Georgia D-O-T Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant, or L-M-I-G, Safety Action Plan.
     There were two felony arrests in Walker County on Tuesday.  37-year-old William Charles Zimmerman was booked on a felony shoplifting charge.  48-year-old, Jason Lee Nave was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.  You can view the complete arrest report on our website at DiscoverWalker.com.
     You can help address a critical blood shortage by donating blood tomorrow at the Bank of LaFayette.  Blood Assurance will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the main Bank of LaFayette branch. Blood donations have dropped sharply since the end of May, creating a growing gap between the nation’s blood supply and patient needs.  Donors of all blood types are encouraged to give.
