Walker County is leading Northwest Georgia in new residents, posting the region’s highest domestic migration rate at 5-point-6 percent.  The county’s population also grew 3-point-8 percent since 2020—second only to Murray County—while Dade County was the only area to lose population.  The growth comes as the Chattanooga metropolitan area continues to expand rapidly, adding more than 31-thousand people in five years.  A report from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga shows most of that growth is driven by people moving in from other parts of the country.  The region’s population is expected to top 600-thousand later this year.
Clay Fuller was sworn in yesterday as the new congressman for Georgia’s 14th District.  The former district attorney and Air National Guard lieutenant colonel says he’s ready to get to work in Washington, focusing on the economy, border security, and protecting constitutional rights.  Fuller thanked supporters, his family, and President Donald Trump for backing his campaign.  He says he plans to co-sponsor several key pieces of legislation on his first day in office.
Pet owners in Walker County have a chance to protect their animals this Saturday.  Walker County Extension and Cornerstone Veterinarian Services are teaming up once again to offer low-cost rabies vaccinations.  Shots are just 15 dollars, cash only, and include a certificate and tag.  Clinics will be held Saturday from 1 to 2:30 at Gilbert Elementary School, 3 to 4 at Naomi Elementary School, and 4:30 to 6 at Rock Spring Elementary School.  Officials say rabies is deadly, and vaccination is the best protection for your pets and your family.
