The City of LaFayette has issued a boil water advisory for the following areas until further notice: East of Highway 27 bypass, South of 136 East including the Naomi community, Highway 151, Corinth area, Hillcrest community, Walnut grove area, and Old Trion Highway. Customers in these areas should boil water for 1 minute past a rolling boil before using it for cooking, drinking or brushing teeth. Infants, the elderly and those with immune deficiencies should be particularly careful. For more information, contact the City of LaFayette at 706-639-1511.
Due to the heavy rains last week from Hurricane Helene, we are experiencing elevated turbidity levels in our water supply at our Lee School water treatment plant. This high turbidity inhibits our ability to treat the drinking water, and therefore we are unable to produce drinking water from this plant. Due to the extended downtime of this plant, the water levels in two of our storage tanks have dropped, affecting the water pressure for those served by this plant, especially in higher elevations. If the turbidity does not return to lower levels, or unless we are able to bring another water source online, the situation could lead to a loss of water service. The tanks in question serve customers east of Highway 27, south of 136 East, including the Naomi community, Highway 151, Corinth area, Hillcrest community, Walnut Grove area, Old Trion Highway.
