Residents along Dripping Springs Road in LaFayette are reporting repeated sightings of black bears over the past two weeks, with several encounters captured on home security cameras.
Neighbors say the bears have been getting into deer feeders and rummaging through garbage cans at multiple homes in the area. One resident told WQCH that a black bear climbed onto his porch and damaged handrails before leaving the property.
According to residents, bears have been seen at at least four homes along Dripping Springs Road, with the latest sighting reported Tuesday night.
Black bear sightings have become more common across northwest Georgia in recent years as the state’s bear population continues to expand. Wildlife officials often remind residents to avoid leaving food sources outdoors, including pet food, unsecured trash, bird seed, and deer feeders, which can attract bears into neighborhoods.
Residents in the area are encouraged to use caution, secure garbage containers, and avoid approaching or feeding bears if spotted.
