The Boil Water Advisory for City of LaFayette Utility customers served by the Lee School Road Water Treatment Plant remains in place. However, yesterday brought another good day of low turbidity, and the tanks are nearing recovery.

Contractors worked on fusing the massive 12-inch pipes to carry pre-filtered water to the holding tanks, City of LaFayette Public Works, Codes and Engineering, and Gas Departments were on-site installing systems of their own yesterday.

The Gas Department focused on fusing the pipes for waste outflow. Fusing is the process of melting and joining the ends of pipes to create a strong, leak-proof seal. This requires special equipment and certified workers to ensure safety and proper fusion.

Meanwhile, Codes and Engineering collaborated with Public Works to design and build scaffolding to support the 12-inch pipes being assembled by our specialists.

The City of LaFayette says they are approaching, “the final stages of the project and are grateful for the many skilled workers on our staff. Their contributions have significantly accelerated our progress and response to this challenge.”

Friday morning, they will connect the plumbing line from the DAF system to the holding tank. Once complete, they will begin filling both the DAF system and the holding tank. If all goes according to plan, they expect to perform the system’s first test run Friday afternoon, marking the start of the configuration process.
