The Chickamauga Mayor and City Council will meet Monday, June 1, at 6 p.m. at City Hall, located at 1817 Lee Clarkson Road, with several significant development and infrastructure items on the agenda.

Mayor Roy E. Parrish IV will preside over the meeting, which will include routine business such as approval of previous meeting minutes and an opportunity for public comments before council members move into new business.

One of the key items before the council is a resolution repealing the city’s 2015 annexation policy and adopting a new policy governing the future annexation of real property into the City of Chickamauga. The proposal could shape how the city approaches future growth and development.

Council members are also expected to discuss a reference water fee issue brought forward by Ms. Buglione and consider a request from Sherryl McGill for speed humps on A Street and B Street.

Several agenda items focus on improvements and future planning efforts at Crystal Springs. The council will discuss downtown historic sign placement at the corner of the new parking lot and the Crystal Springs parking area.

The council is also scheduled to review the 2026 Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) funding and a capital project aimed at improving sidewalks near Old Homestead for schoolchildren and pedestrian safety.

Another major item involves a $40,000 grant awarded through the Rural Center of Georgia to support planning efforts for Crystal Springs. The funding, along with donated property from Jewell Properties, would be used to develop plans for the Crystal Springs area. Council members will consider approval of a contract totaling $1,450,000 for the Historic Downtown Blight Remediation project.

Looking ahead, city leaders will discuss the potential development of a disc golf course and walking trail on undeveloped portions of the Crystal Springs property and nearby Chickamauga wetland areas.

The meeting will begin with an invocation led by Council Member David Jones and the Pledge of Allegiance led by City Manager Michael Haney.
