The City of Chickamauga is asking residents with storm-damaged trees on their property to contact City Hall and request a work order for debris removal as cleanup efforts continue following this week’s severe storms.

City officials said residents should cut fallen trees into sections between six and eight feet long and place them in a safe location near the roadway. Once the debris is ready for pickup, residents should contact City Hall to be added to the removal list.

Officials cautioned that it may take a couple of weeks for crews to reach all locations due to the large number of requests generated by storm damage across the city.

The cleanup follows a week of severe weather that brought powerful straight-line winds from two storm systems through Chickamauga and Walker County. The storms caused extensive damage, with trees falling onto homes, roads, and power lines throughout the area.

The city also thanked its employees for their efforts during the recovery process. Crews worked late into the night and through heavy rain clearing roadways, removing fallen trees, and restoring power to affected areas.

While progress has been made, officials said some residents may remain without power for several more days as restoration efforts continue. The city is asking the public for patience and understanding as crews work to complete both power restoration and debris removal operations.

City leaders also expressed appreciation to residents for working together during the recovery and thanked the community for its cooperation as Chickamauga continues to recover from the storm damage.
