The City of LaFayette has officially begun its 2026 road paving project, with contractors starting work today on Anthony Street as part of a series of roadway improvements across the city.
The paving project will include resurfacing work on the following streets:
- Anthony Street – from Johnson Street to the dead end
- Pledger Street – from South Chattanooga Street to the dead end
- Johnson Street – from Foster Mill Drive to the dead end
- Trail Lake – from North Main Street to the dead end
- Duke Street – from South Main Street to Villanow Street
- Foster Boulevard – from Highway 27 Bypass to Patterson Street
City officials said the project is funded through a combination of Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) revenues and the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) program.
The LMIG program provides state funding to local governments to support roadway maintenance and transportation infrastructure improvements, helping communities address critical road needs.
As work progresses, motorists may encounter temporary traffic delays and construction activity in the affected areas. Drivers are encouraged to exercise caution, follow traffic control devices, and remain alert for crews working along the roadways.
City leaders say the project is part of LaFayette’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving its transportation infrastructure, enhancing safety, and providing smoother travel for residents and visitors throughout the community.
Construction is expected to continue on the listed roadways as crews move through the paving schedule.
