Customers who are supplied with water from the Lee School Road Water Treatment Plant are still under a water boil advisory. Turbidity levels at the plan have reached a point where the plant was able to come back on line. Engineers are testing the water and tanks are beginning to refill. City leaders say that the water boil advisory could extend through the weekend. The city is awaiting proposals from 3 water filtration services. The city council will review the proposals during an open session before a decision is made.

U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan announced his upcoming resignation yesterday. Buchanan serves as the chief law enforcement officer for the Northern District of Georgia. Buchanan was nominated by President Biden and later confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Buchanan was sworn into office in May of 2022. Buchanan led an office of 250 prosecutors, civil litigators and administrative and support personnel. The Norther District of Georgia includes 46 counties including Walker, Dade and Catoosa. The office enforces federal, civil and criminal laws. It also represents the United States interest in federal courts. Buchanan’s resignation is effective on January 19th.

Ford has recalled nearly 300,000 F-Series trucks. The recall is due to defective fuel pumps. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration made the announcement yesterday. The faulty fuel pump may cause drivers to experience extended crank when starting, check engine light, noise and reduced engine power. Ford said they are not aware of any reports of accidents, injuries or fires. The recall covers Ford F-Series trucks built from 2020-2022. Dealers will correct the issue free of charge. Ford will be mailing out notification letters beginning January 13th.

The LaFayette Ramblers boys and girls basketball teams picked up huge wins yesterday. The Lady Ramblers ran their record to 10-3 on the season with a 67-25 win over Unity Christian. The boys are now 9-4 after beating Unity Christian 59-11.
