Georgia motorists are continuing to see some relief at the gas pump this week, as prices trend downward across the state despite ongoing global uncertainty.
According to AAA – The Auto Club Group, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in Georgia is now $3.61. That’s down 10 cents from last week and 15 cents lower than a month ago, though still 68 cents higher than this time last year.
The decline offers a measure of stability for drivers, aided in part by the continued suspension of Georgia’s state gas tax, which has helped offset potential spikes tied to global market pressures.
“Gas prices continue to move with the ups and downs of the global market, but for now, Georgia drivers are seeing some welcome stability at the pump,” said Montrae Waiters. “With prices always subject to change, it’s smart for drivers to take advantage of fuel-saving strategies whenever they can.”
At current rates, filling a standard 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline costs drivers about $54.15.
Nationally, the average price for a gallon of regular gas also dipped this week, falling 8 cents to $4.04. Analysts say easing crude oil prices—remaining below $100 per barrel following a temporary ceasefire involving the United States and Iran—have helped prevent sharper increases, though continued tensions in key shipping regions could still impact supply and pricing.
Within Georgia, fuel prices vary by region. The most expensive metro areas include Valdosta at $3.69 per gallon, followed by Atlanta at $3.64 and Gainesville at $3.60. Meanwhile, drivers in southwest and coastal Georgia are seeing the lowest prices, with Albany averaging $3.50, Hinesville–Fort Stewart at $3.48, and Dalton at $3.45 per gallon.
AAA officials say while prices are moving in a favorable direction for now, market volatility means drivers should remain mindful of changing conditions in the weeks ahead.
