The City of LaFayette is preparing for one of its biggest Independence Day celebrations ever as the annual Freedom Festival returns to the Ross Abney Complex on Thursday, July 2, with a special focus on America’s 250th birthday.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. and promises an evening filled with patriotic entertainment, family-friendly activities, food vendors, and what organizers are calling the largest fireworks display in the festival’s history.

This year’s celebration will commemorate the nation’s semiquincentennial, marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Organizers say attendees can expect a variety of America 250-themed surprises throughout the evening.

Live entertainment will be provided by The Band Waleska, bringing a mix of classic rock and country music to the stage as festival-goers gather to celebrate the nation’s milestone birthday.

In addition to the concert, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy local vendors, activities for all ages, and community fellowship before the evening concludes with the expanded fireworks show.

City officials are encouraging residents and visitors from across the region to bring their families, lawn chairs, and patriotic spirit for what is expected to be one of the largest Freedom Festival celebrations LaFayette has hosted.

The Freedom Festival will take place Thursday, July 2, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Ross Abney Complex in LaFayette. Admission to the event is free.

Organizers say the festival will provide an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate both Independence Day and America’s 250th anniversary with an evening of entertainment, tradition, and patriotic pride.
