Walker County Elections Office Clarifies Third-Party Absentee Ballot Applications

The Walker County Board of Elections and Registration is answering questions from voters who have received absentee ballot applications in the mail from third-party organizations.

Election officials stressed that the mailings are applications for absentee ballots — not actual ballots — and were not sent by the Walker County Elections Office or the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office. According to the county, third-party vendors are mailing the applications directly to voters.

Voters who receive one of the applications may use it to request an absentee ballot, but they are not required to do so. Georgia election guidance allows third parties to distribute the state’s official absentee ballot application form, which must identify the person or organization distributing it and state that it is not a ballot or a government mailing.

Walker County election officials are encouraging residents who have questions or prefer to handle election matters directly to use Georgia’s official My Voter Page.

Through the state portal, voters can check their registration status, find advance voting locations and hours, view a sample ballot, locate their Election Day polling place and request an absentee ballot.

Georgia voters are currently preparing for the November 3, 2026 General Election. Early voting begins October 13 and continues through October 30.

Walker County election officials said voters should pay attention to where election-related information and mailings originate, particularly when receiving materials from organizations outside local or state election offices.

Voters wanting to use the state’s official election resources can visit the Georgia My Voter Page.
