Today is election day in Walker County. There are municipal races on the ballot today as well as the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax referendum. The polling locations are open until 7pm this evening.
The fire on Highway 157 on Lookout Mountain has been ruled as arson. The fire started on October 21st. On November 2nd the fire escaped the containment lines and burned an additional 900 acres. The Georgia Arson Control Program offers at reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of an arsonist.
The Walker County Sheriff’s Department is asking for help in a kidnapping case. Five year old Pedro Diego was taken by a non-custodial grandparent. Pedro has brown hair, black eyes. He’s 3 feet tall and weighs 45 pounds. He was last seen wearing dark yellow sweatpants, a black Air Jordan T-shirt and a camaflage jacket. The suspect is 49-year old Carlotta Wotten. She is believed to be driving a black Chevy SUV. If you have information regarding Pedro’s disappearance call 911 or the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.
Nearly 30,000 lbs. of Tyson chicken nuggets that may be contaminated with metal pieces have been recalled. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall Saturday for Tyson’s 29 oz. bag of fully cooked fun nuggets breaded shaped chicken patties. Bags with the dinosaur-shaped nuggets were sold in Tennessee and Kentucky, as well as Alabama, California, Michigan, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin. Consumer complaints reporting small metal pieces inside the chicken led to the recall, according to the USDA. One minor oral injury is associated after consuming the product. The recalled bags have a “Best If Used By date” of SEP 04, 2024. If you have the recalled items, The USDA says to either throw them away or take them back to where you bought them.
