The Walker County Sheriff’s Department was involved in a high-speed chase yesterday morning.  Pursuit speeds topped more than 100 miles an hour before the chase ended across the state line in Hamilton County.  A male suspect was arrested and taken into custody.  A female victim was in the vehicle reportedly taken against her will.  No one was injured in the incident.  We’ll have more details as they become available.
According to the Walker County Detention Center, 41-year-old Jason Wayne Wright was arrested Sunday and faces felony charges of terroristic threats, simple assault-family violence and 3rd degree cruelty to children.  For a complete arrest report visit Discover Walker.com
The Georgia Labor Commission has shared their latest employment numbers.  Walker County’s unemployment numbers sit at 3.2%.  31,276 in the county are in the work force.  More than 30,000 are currently employed.  That leaves 878 in the county currently unemployed.  Dade and Catoosa Counties had the lowest unemployment numbers in Northwest Georgia.  Both were at 2.9%
The free covid testing site in Fort Oglethorpe is ending its services next week.  According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, Wednesday May 31st will be the final day of testing.  The tests have been administered at the CHI Memorial Georgia Campus at the Women’s Center building.  The test site in Floyd County will remain open until further notice.
