James Wayne Lake Sr.Ringgold, GA

James Wayne Lake Sr., 81 of Ringgold, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Monday, September 11, 2023. He lived his early life in Cullman, Alabama and spent most of his life in the Ringgold, Georgia area. Wayne loved listening to gospel music and was a member of Midway Baptist Church where he served as a door greeter. He retired from Shaw Industries after 25 years of service as a pole Hyster operator. He was a good man who had an old soul and loved animals. Wayne’s most cherished time was spent with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde William Lake and Lois Walker Lake; sister, Peggy Sue Lake and brother, William Edward Lake. Wayne is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Dunn Lake; sons, James Wayne (Gail) Lake Jr., Clyde Lamar Lake, granddaughter that he raised, Jessica Lake (Troy) Johnson; sister, Mary Ann Lake Dunn; grandchildren, Sawyer Lamar (Nikki) Lake, Garren Eldridge Lake, Carson Tee (Hannah) Lake, Parker Reese Lake; great grandchildren, Carrie Abbigail Johnson and Brayden Ray Johnson, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Daily Hills Cemetery with Pastor Jackie Swanson officiating.
