W. O. Whitton

W. O. Whitton, age 93 of Harrison, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. He was born on Sand Mountain in Alabama to the late Sam Whitton and Myrtle Martha Wilson Whitton, was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and was a charter member of Bayside Baptist Church, where he enjoyed helping people and attending the Faith Jubilee Sunday School Class. W.O. served his country in the U.S. Army, during the Korean Conflict, retired from Dupont in 2003 after more than 40 years and was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Bobbie Dorina Whitton and siblings, Clara Lee Barksdale, Delora Mathis, Betty Jean Nichols, Thomas Edward Whitton, and Sam Levon Whitton. W.O. is survived by his loving son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Terri Whitton; granddaughter, Abigail Mae Whitton; brother, Oren Whitton; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 15, 2023 in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Lloyd Harvill officiating. Interment will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 in the Chattanooga National Cemetery, with Military Honors.
