RIdgeland High School sent out a notification to parents last night. The message concerned a snapchat account. School officials say a snapchat account was posting ominous and threatening messages. Ridgeland Principal James Morrison says that all message they have been made aware of by students have been reported to the sheriff’s office. The principal says the school will maintain security protocols today. They ask parents to monitor their child’s social media activity and report anything suspicious to school administrators or law enforcement.
Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader has confirmed that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into allegations regarding the misuse of county funds during the previous administration. Sheriff Schrader told AllOnGeorgia that he requested the GBI’s involvement on March 17th, after receiving a complaint that was referred to his office. The complaint raised concerns over questionable activities related to several county accounts, including the proposed Menlo internet project. After reviewing the documents and consulting with the county auditor, Sheriff Schrader confirmed that there were indeed issues with the accounts in question. While some discrepancies appear to be related to record-keeping errors, others may point to potential criminal activity. As a result, the Sheriff’s office asked the GBI to further investigate the matter.
Authorities in Walker County made two felony arrests this past Saturday, including the arrest of 43-year-old Austin Robert Ware. Ware was taken into custody on multiple charges, including possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of a Schedule 1 controlled substance. Catoosa County Sheriff’s detectives have identified and arrested a man accused of stealing an electric scooter from a local gas station over a week ago. The suspect, 29-year-old Austin Blake Pankey, is said to have taken the scooter from the Victory Fuels gas station at the corner of West Cloud Springs Road and Lafayette Road on May 8th. While details surrounding Pankey’s arrest have not been released, authorities have confirmed the charges.
