Georgia Northwestern Technical College has announced the promotion of Patty Hart to vice president of Economic Development, elevating a longtime leader with more than 25 years of experience at the institution.

Hart most recently served as director of Economic Development, a role she has held since 2009. Prior to that, she worked as an Economic Development programs instructor and Work Ready coordinator from 2000 to 2009.

Georgia Northwestern Technical College President Dr. Heidi Popham praised Hart’s track record, noting her commitment to aligning education and workforce needs across the region.

“Patty has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to GNTC’s mission and the importance of aligning education and training with workforce needs across our region,” Popham said. “As vice president of Economic Development, Patty will help lead our efforts to expand opportunities, support employers and drive growth across northwest Georgia.”

In her new role, Hart will oversee the implementation of initiatives sponsored by the Technical College System of Georgia aimed at strengthening the regional economy. Her responsibilities will include supporting community economic development efforts, expanding customized workforce training and continuing education programs, and helping attract new industries while supporting the growth of existing businesses.

Hart will also serve as a local point of contact for Georgia Quick Start and work closely with chambers of commerce, business leaders, local governments and community development organizations throughout GNTC’s nine-county service area.

Dr. Elizabeth Anderson said Hart’s experience positions her well for the expanded leadership role.

“In her new role, she will continue to strengthen partnerships and lead initiatives that support student success and workforce development,” Anderson said.

Hart holds a bachelor’s degree in management from University of West Georgia and has completed graduate-level computer science coursework at City University in Bellevue, Washington.

She is an ACT-authorized WorkKeys Job Profiler, a Certified Manufacturing Specialist trainer, and holds certifications as a Microsoft Office Specialist and OSHA Outreach Trainer. She is also certified by the state of Georgia as a Manufacturing Specialist and Customer Service Trainer.

Beyond her professional work, Hart has been active in the community, including 12 years of service on the Walker County Board of Education. She is a member of the Georgia Continuing Education Association, where she serves as vice president of marketing, and is Workforce Readiness director for the Northwest Georgia Society for Human Resource Management.

Hart was named Georgia’s Work Ready Administrator of the Year in 2009 and is a graduate of several regional leadership programs, including the Georgia Academy for Economic Development and multiple local leadership initiatives.

“I am truly honored to step into this role and remain deeply committed to strengthening our partnerships with local industry and supporting workforce growth across our region,” Hart said. “I am excited to build on our strong foundation by expanding customized training, enhancing continuing education opportunities and developing innovative programs that meet the evolving needs of our employers.”
