As families prepare for the upcoming school year, North LaFayette Elementary is asking the community to help support students and teachers by donating items from its 2026-2027 classroom wish lists.
Rather than traditional school supply lists, the requests focus on classroom materials and everyday items that help teachers keep students learning throughout the year. The needs vary by grade level and specialty classroom, giving families and community members several ways to contribute.
Pre-K classrooms are requesting paper towels, tissues, baby wipes, Clorox wipes, Ziploc bags in all sizes, hand soap, dry erase markers, glue sticks, and individually wrapped snacks such as Goldfish crackers, Cheez-Its, gummies, chips, crackers, Little Debbie cakes, and granola bars. Teachers noted enough snacks to serve 22 students would be appreciated.
Kindergarten classrooms are seeking hand sanitizer, tissues, Clorox wipes, baby wipes, sandwich-size Ziploc bags, and gallon-size Ziploc bags.
First grade teachers are asking for Clorox wipes, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, colorful copy paper, Kleenex, and Ziploc bags in all sizes. They also requested that families not send pencil sharpeners.
Second grade classrooms are requesting disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizer, and tissues.
Third grade teachers are asking for two boxes of tissues, disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, sandwich or zip-top bags of any size, dry erase markers, index cards, and individually wrapped candy. As with first grade, teachers have asked that pencil sharpeners not be donated.
Fourth grade classrooms need tissues, disinfectant wipes, sandwich and gallon-size zippered storage bags, a ream of bright-colored copy paper, and individually wrapped candy.
Fifth grade wish list items include two boxes of tissues, one small bottle of hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, quart-size storage bags, freezer gallon bags, bright-colored copy paper, Band-Aids, and one package of baby wipes.
Specialty classrooms also have a variety of needs.
The Kaleidoscope program is requesting Kleenex, Clorox wipes, crayons, markers, scissors, craft sticks, straws, and pipe cleaners.
The Speech department is asking for Kleenex, Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, Dum Dum suckers, and stickers.
The PE and STEAM Lab is requesting Kleenex, hand sanitizer, and Clorox wipes.
Art classes are seeking Kleenex, disinfectant wipes, hand soap, gallon storage bags, and paper plates.
The Media Center is asking for Kleenex, disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, and sandwich-size storage bags.
School officials say donations of any of the requested items will help teachers maintain well-stocked classrooms and allow them to focus on providing students with a successful learning experience throughout the school year. Community members interested in supporting North LaFayette Elementary are encouraged to donate items from the wish lists as students and teachers prepare to return to the classroom.
