Earlier today, the LaFayette Police Department issued a public statement asking for the community’s help in locating a missing Walker County man.
Authorities are searching for David Porter, who left for a drive Sunday afternoon and has not returned home. According to the department, officers have been actively investigating Mr. Porter’s disappearance and are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.
The LaFayette Police Department released the following statement on Tuesday:
The LaFayette Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating one of our citizens, David Porter.
Mr. Porter left for a drive on Sunday afternoon and has not yet returned home. While Mr. Porter routinely takes lengthy drives and has done so many times in the past, his family became concerned about his safety and reported him missing after he failed to return home Sunday night.
Our officers have been working diligently to locate Mr. Porter. We have utilized every available investigative resource, including reviewing regional surveillance camera system databases, analyzing Mr. Porter’s financial card activity, and examining his cell phone records. Despite these efforts, we have not yet been able to determine his whereabouts.
Mr. Porter’s family has advised that he does have a history of cardiac-related health issues but has not been diagnosed with dementia or alzheimer’s disease.
Mr. Porter does currently have a full white/gray beard!
