Billy Grant Stone
May 3, 1973 ~ November 13, 2023

William “Billy” Grant Stone, 50, left this world peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, November 13th, 2023 to be with his Heavenly Father and to join his Dad (Pop) and Uncle Bill, which has been his desire for quite some time. He was born on May 3, 1973 to his parents, Linda O’Dell Stone and the late Jack Eugene Stone.

Billy lived most of his life in the Fort Oglethorpe and Chattanooga areas. He was a 1991 graduate of Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High School where he was a member of the football, soccer, baseball, and wrestling teams. He was an active member of Edgewood Baptist Church and the church softball team. He was also a member of Boy Scout Troop 218, where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a devoted fan of the University of Tennessee Vols and the Dallas Cowboys, and never missed an opportunity to show it. He was an avid golfer and his favorite pastime was playing golf with his friends at the Battlefield Golf Club in Fort Oglethorpe.

Billy’s reputation preceded him where ever he went. Sharp as a tac with a quick wit and insurmountable business acumen. There was never a computer problem that was too great for him to solve. He was also quite the jokester, who took pride in making everyone around him laugh. He was a loving father, pawpaw, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. To know him was to love him, and he will be greatly missed. We are so thankful for all the fun memories.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Francis Marion and Nellie Stone and Major Grant and Rosa Lee O’Dell; his father, Jack E. Stone; and uncles William F. Stone, Larry G. O’Dell and William T. Pippin.

Survivors include his mother, Linda Stone; sister, Elizabeth Steadman (Jason); and his children, Haley Harris (Hunter), Tanner Stone (Morgan), and Natalie Stone; Aunts, Martha Ann Stone, Carolyn Wilkerson (Tom), Shirley Pippin, and Uncle, Phil O’Dell (Debbie); grandchildren, Lyla Grace Harris, Blakely Paige and Raelyn Mae Stone; nieces, Gabrielle and Emilee Steadman, and several cousins. He is also survived by Billy Newbille, his brother by another mother.

Funeral services will be 3:30 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. T. Dale Kidd officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park with the graveside service conducted by Bill Newbille.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Adcox, Michael Blackwell, Greg Gray, Brady Jackson, Chuck Jackson, Greg Jackson, Patrick McBride, Billy Newbille, Scott Rouse, Jason Steadman, David Tindell, Donnie Welborn, and Tommy Wilkerson. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Edgewood Baptist Church Softball Team.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Billy to Edgewood Baptist Church Building Fund, 3604 Ringgold Road, Chattanooga, TN 37412.

The family will receive friends 4-8 PM Wednesday and after 12 Noon on Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
