Rev. Oscar Stapp, age 91, of LaFayette passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023.
A love for farming, he accepted Jesus in his heart as a young man while plowing the fields. He pastored various churches within the area over the past 68 years. Rev. Stapp will be remembered for his caring demeanor and love for others while being the hands and feet of Jesus during his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy June Gribble Stapp; daughter, Deborah Sue Chambers; sisters, Dorothy McHan and Barbara Middlesworth; brothers, Marvin Stapp and Raymond Stapp; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Stapp.
He is survived by his daughter, Vickie (Henry) Jordy; son, Daniel Stapp; grandchildren, Brian Southerland, Lorrie Herriel, Modesta Brown, Eric, Adam, Melanie, and Matthew Stapp, Kevin and Clay Raynard; several great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and son-in-law, Joe Chambers.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 5, in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Rev. Rodney Blalock and Rev. Damon Perry officiating.
Interment at Arnold-Gladden Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
