The LaFayette Police Department is attempting to identify subjects who were recently involved in a theft at a local business. A special called LaFayette City Council meeting is set for 4:30 this afternoon. Among the items is a proposed gas station in the Naomi community, near the intersection of Highways 136 and 151. The roughly 15-acre proposal has drawn concerns over traffic, student safety and its proximity to Naomi Elementary. Council will also discuss road closures, an A-F-G grant and a CleanSpark agreement, with a possible executive session.
Walker County says the Splash Pad at Adventure Acres will be closing for the season this Sunday.
East Brotherton Road in Chickamauga Battlefield is closed for road-paving work. The closure is between Alexander’s Bridge Road and Jay’s Mill Road, and all public traffic is prohibited through the construction area. The National Military Park is asking motorists and commuters to use alternate routes and slow down near construction equipment and workers. Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper is warning residents about unlicensed pest-control workers going door to door. The Agriculture Department says it’s investigated 48 cases of unlicensed operators this year. Consumers should ask to see a valid state pest-control license before signing a contract or allowing work to begin. Some door-to-door contracts also include a three-day cancellation period. Violations can bring fines of up to ten-thousand dollars.
It’s a big game tomorrow night on Georgia 93-7. A battle of unbeatens as LaFayette travels to Murray County. The latest Maxwell Ratings Post Season projections show the Ramblers currently sitting 11th. Murray County is 5th in 3A. The numbers represent how seeding for the post season will play out. The top 12 teams would get a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Ramblers are also getting some recognition in a 3-A poll. LaFayette is currently 9th in the ITG-Next poll. LaFayette’s offense continues to be among the best in 3-A football in the state. The Ramblers are scoring an average of 38 points per game.
