     Walker County residents can once again burn leaves and yard debris beginning today.  Georgia’s annual summer open burning ban has ended allowing outdoor burning to resume.  Residents should remember that fires must be kept at least 50 feet from structures and 25 feet from woodlands or flammable vegetation.  Burning is allowed from sunrise to sunset, and fires must be attended until completely extinguished.
     Walker County has launched a redesigned county website, with new features and improved accessibility.  The new Walkercountyga.gov is the county’s first major website redevelopment in nine years.  Residents can now customize accessibility settings, subscribe for updates, and find new sections for county projects, financial documents and frequently requested information.  The county says the new site has been nearly a year in development, although search features may take a couple of weeks to fully return.
      A unique Fall Break event is coming to downtown LaFayette.  The Matchbox Drive-Thru Wedding Chapel is bringing “Fall Break at the MARS” to the historic MARS Theatre Thursday, October 15th.  It starts at one with a free showing of the 1939 Shirley Temple classic, “The Little Princess.”  Then at six, it gets a little spooky with “Night of the Living Dead” and “Plan 9 from Outer Space.” Tickets are 15 dollars for both movies.  Reservations are encouraged because seating is limited.
     The suspect in Tuesday’s shooting on Michael’s Road in Dade County is now facing a murder charge.  The Dade County Sheriff’s Office says 28-year-old Colbin Quinn Davis is charged with murder and aggravated assault.  Investigators say Davis shot two men Tuesday morning. One victim has died, while the other — identified as Davis’ brother — is expected to recover.  Davis was taken into custody Tuesday night.
     LaFayette volleyball team plays their final regular season match tonight at Model.  The Ramblers will face Model at 5pm followed by Cedartown at 6:30pm
