Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson released the latest unemployment numbers for the state yesterday. The unemployment rate in Northwest Georgia rose to two-tenths of a percent to 3.1% last month. Employment numbers remain at an all time high in our part of the state.

Four felony arrests in Walker County on Wednesday. 69-year-old Terry Lee Cuzzort was arrested on possession of meth along with a schedule two. Driving under the influence of drugs and several traffic violations. 41-year-old Joshua Williams was booked on aggravated stalking charges and violation of family violence order. Also 25-year-old William Howard Wright was booked on possession charges, driving under the influence of drugs and several traffic violations.

The Walker County Sheriff’s Department is looking for help in identifying a man whole stole a lottery ticket. Tuesday a man reached over the counter at the Circle K in Rock Spring. Fiber internet is being rolled out in the City of LaFayette. Ringgold Telephone Company is offering fiber on 11 streets in the city limits. The is the first phase of the plan. Plans are there to expand it in the future.
